Jewels Raise Funds for Shelter Inc.

By Carrie Soucy, Senior Editor -- JCK Online, 3/1/2004 2:00:00 AM

M.J. Miller & Co., along with several jewelry designers, recently hosted an "Under the Big Top" fundraising event to benefit Shelter Inc., an organization helping abused and neglected children.

Since 1975 Shelter Inc. has led the response to the problems of child mistreatment in the north and northwest suburbs of Chicago. Shelter Inc. is the only accredited and licensed not-for-profit child welfare agency providing community-based emergency and long-term housing for abused, neglected, and abandoned boys and girls.

Among the pieces raffled to benefit Shelter Inc. were an $1,100 18k white gold and diamond necklace donated by jewelry designer Peter Storm; a $1,130 gift basket of specially selected Lalique items; and a blue topaz and diamond ring in 18k yellow gold donated by Bellarri and valued at $1,600.
