ASA donates $5,000 to Red Cross for terror attack victims

The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) has contributed $5,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to help the victims of the September 11 terror attacks. The organization is also encouraging its members to help with the disaster relief effort "in any way they find appropriate."
In addition, ASA released the following joint-statement, along with the American Society of Farm Managers, the Appraisal Institute, and Rural Appraisers:
This past week has been a traumatic in many of our lives. Our country has been attacked by foreign bodies.
Some people, including within our membership, may react that we should revert to the isolationist policies of 1914 and 1940. We cannot do so!
If we do so, we are accomplishing the goals of the terrorists. They wish to stop globalization and the spread of technology and western influence that the rest of the world is demanding. We must continue to do our part to unite the valuation expertise of the world and create a standardization of valuation education, techniques and ethical standards.
We ask that each of you join together with us to create an international front representing the civilized world that will not bow to the terrorist pressure to our efforts. We must not let terrorists stop us: We must work together to create a united world where people can work together toward a greater good.
