APPOINTMENTS

Robert H. Emmons, president of the Longines division of SMH (US), was named president of the company's Omega division. He succeeds Gerald S. Batt, who left the position in April after 11 years to pursue other opportunities. Emmons has been with SMH for 15 years. He started as a regional sales manager and then national sales manager for Omega, was later named president of Tissot and then president of Longines. He will remain in that position until a successor is named.

Maurice Lacroix USA, Los Angeles, Cal., named Mark Trenkler eastern regional sales manager and Bob Auerbach western regional sales manager. Trenkler formerly held sales positions with Krieger Watch Corp. and Raymond Weil. Auerbach was formerly sales manager for Baume & Mercier.

Franz Brunner was named director of retail sales for Jules Jurgensen/Helbros. Brunner, formerly

of Nicolet Watch Co., will develop branded and private-label merchandise. He has already helped to create Concept America, a new line of watches that are hand-assembled in the U.S. using primarily Swiss components. Best Products Co., Richmond, Va., named Daniel H. Levy chairman and chief executive officer. Levy succeeds Stuart M. Kasen, who also steps down as president. Levy was formerly a retailing consultant, vice chairman and chief operating officer of Montgomery Ward & Co., and chairman and chief executive officer of the Gimbel's department store unit of Batus Inc., a unit of British holding company B.A.T. Industries.

Paolo Novembri was named president of Gori & Zucchi Inc. USA, New York, N.Y., the American sales, distribution and marketing subsidiary of Uno A Erre of Italy. He was previously executive vice president.

David Rahilly was named president and chief executive officer of Valdawn, Englewood Cliffs, N.J. Rahilly spent 17 years at Timex and most recently held executive positions at Voguestrap.

Marie Kendrat-Neubauer was named bridal director/national sales promotion manager of Portmeirion, Naugatuck, Conn. She was formerly with Lenox Brands, writing and executing training programs for department and specialty stores.

Skinner Inc., Bolton, Mass., named Carol Ferranti as a consultant and liaison to attorneys, private collectors and dealers, representing Skinner auction and appraisal services targeted to individuals, fiduciary concerns and institutions here and abroad.

Mikimoto (America) Co. Ltd., New York, N.Y., named Robert Artelt director of retail. Formerly director of trade sales for North and South America at Tiffany & Co., Artelt brings 22 years of experience in the jewelry industry to his new position. Mikimoto (America) is a division of K. Mikimoto & Co. Ltd. of Japan.

CALP USA, New York, N.Y., promoted Lee Mattson to general manager. She was formerly administrative manager in charge of administration, finance and operations. In her new position, Mattson is responsible for administration, finance, sales and marketing. Gerard Kiernan joined the company as assistant national sales manager. He replaces John Rufe, who was promoted to national sales manager upon the retirement of Jerry Mayer.

OBITUARIES

George J. Carr, 73, of Jackson, Miss., former owner of George Carr and Son Jewelry and Coin Collection Business, died April 20.

Irving Diamond, 79, of Los Angeles, Cal., owner of Silton's Jewelers and longtime member of the Jewelers 24 Karat Club of Southern California, died April 25.

Royce Lee Rowe, 76, of Jackson, Tenn., retired owner of Rowe Jewelers, died April 10.

Kelly Schaeffer, a longtime member of the Jewelers 24 Karat Club of Southern California, died April 21.

Nathan Shor, 81, of New York, N.Y., president and owner of I. Shor Co., died April 19. He is succeeded at Shor by his son, Peter.
