New JA Sweepstakes Spotlights Ammolite

The gemstone is known for its iridescence

Jewelers of America (JA) is launching a new gemstone-spotlighting contest, the  Amazing Ammolite Jewelry Sweepstakes.

The consumer sweepstakes will run Nov. 14 through Dec. 2 at the organization’s website www.jewelers.org. The grand prize is three ammolite pendant and earring sets (pictured) produced by JA member Korite.

The sweepstakes is meant to encourage consumers to learn more about ammolite, the group says. It follows the Spectacular Spinel Sweepstakes, which touted that gem as a birthstone for the month of August.

Ammolite is known for its rainbow colors and iridescence. It is formed from 71-million-year-old fossils and received official gem status from the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) in 1981.

JA will promote the sweepstakes nationwide through a public relations and marketing campaign. The organization’s members will receive free marketing materials.
