Sotheby’s Headline Diamond Doesn’t Sell

The 27.35 ct. D VS2 diamond had an estimate of $2 million–$2.5 million

The headline piece at Sotheby’s Sept. 22 Important Jewels auction in New York City—a 27.35 ct. D VS2 diamond—did not sell, according to the auction house.

The platinum and diamond ring had an estimate of $2 million–$2.5 million.

Sotheby’s did not list the top price the 27.35 ct. diamond achieved.

Overall, the sale garnered $8.6 million.

Most of the other big lots, however, did sell: a Bulgari sapphire and diamond ring with a 24.72 ct. diamond center stone went for $706,000, and a platinum and diamond ring with a 10.1 ct. stone fetched $634,000, a substantial gain from its premium.
