The news comes two months after the company reported dismal third-quarter results
Neiman Marcus has slashed 80 jobs in a reorganization that merges its e-commerce and brick-and-mortar operations, according to a report in The Dallas Morning News.
Spokesperson Ginger Reeder would not confirm the specific number, but says that “fewer than 100 people across the organization” were affected, and that about 50 of those jobs were in Dallas, where the company is headquartered.
“We have eliminated select support positions within our IT department, and we have streamlined our alterations operations to maximize efficiency,” Reeder says. “The in-store customer experience will not change. In all cases where jobs were eliminated, we were able to give those employees generous severance packages.”
She notes that the company still employs approximately 15,000 people worldwide, with 4,400 in Dallas.
The news comes two months after the company reported dismal results for its third quarter (ended April 30). Comps decreased 5 percent, and net earnings sank 81 percent to $3.8 million, from $19.8 million the prior year.
