De Beers, Zale Veteran Joins Macy’s

Richard Lennox is the retailer’s new chief marketing officer.

Richard Lennox, who headed up marketing for both Zale Corp. and De Beers’ U.S. account at J. Walter Thompson, has been named chief marketing officer for Macy’s.

Lennox is currently chief marketing officer and senior vice president for Toys R Us. Prior to that, he worked as executive vice president and chief marketing and e-commerce officer for Zale Corp. from 2009 to 2014. He left following its acquisition by Signet. From 2002 to 2009, he headed the De Beers account at J. Walter Thompson.

In his new role, Lennox will be responsible for Macy’s omnichannel market presence and strategy, including brand, promotional, store, digital, and events marketing activity. He will also join the store’s executive committee.

Lennox succeeds Martine Reardon, who left the company in May 2016 after 32 years of service.

Macy’s just announced it was closing 100 stores.
