New Synthetic Melee Screening Machine Developed

A new machine that surveys batches of melee for possible synthetics has been developed in Antwerp, Belgium.

The new M-Screen can quickly screen round brilliant D–J diamonds from 1 pt. to 20 pts. for indicators they are lab-grown, color-enhanced, or simulants. It generally looks at two diamonds per second, but at top speeds, it can handle 18,000 an hour.

HRD Antwerp will sell the device. The lab is also looking into offering melee screening services.

The Antwerp Scientific Research Centre for Diamonds (WTOCD) developed the machine in collaboration with HRD Antwerp.
