India’s Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council has issued a statement mourning the death of veteran trade journalist Madhusudan Daga.
No other information was available on the death of Daga, who mostly covered the bullion trade.
In a statement, the GJEPC called Daga a “bona fide freedom fighter.”
“He lived a full life and never buckled under pressure against anyone and expressed his opinion on any issue,” it said. “During the period of Gold Control, he was the only journalist to report on unofficial trade along with estimated figures of its extent.”
The group “pledges to move ahead on the path set by him for the betterment of the industry,” it said.
