Borsheims Closes Outlet Store

Borsheims has closed the outlet it opened in 2013, due to what it reportedly calls “disappointing” sales.

A statement from the Omaha, Neb.–based retailer said, “We had a short-term lease. We realized that we can best serve customers under one roof at our Regency Court location.”

President and CEO Karen Goracke said the underperformance stems from being too close to its main location, according to a report in the Omaha World-Herald. She added that the company is giving outlet employees the chance to work at the main store.

The second store marked the retailer’s first expansion since the 1800s.
