Jewelry Television Mulling Brick-and-Mortar Superstore

It’s not just jewelry websites that are opening brick-and-mortar locations. Now a jewelry-shopping channel also wants to get into the act.

Jewelry TV (JTV) has signed a letter of intent to open a 10,000-square-foot superstore and tourist attraction at the Island in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., a new retail complex near the cable channel’s home base of Knoxville.

If successful, the concept could be expanded throughout the United States, said vice chairman Charles Wagner in a statement.

“JTV is interested in [giving consumers] hands-on access to many of the jewels and gemstones they see on TV,” he added.

JTV has until early next year to give the final go-ahead and is asking its 1,200 employees to help evaluate the project.

“Our brand is built from the inside out,” Wagner said. “The input and feedback we garner from our employees is incredibly valuable in our decision-making process.”
