Suspect Arrested in Nebraska Jeweler’s Slaying

Omaha, Neb., police have arrested a suspect in the murder of jeweler James R. Minshall Sr.

Milton Dortch, 18, has been booked on suspicion of first-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony, in connection with the shooting of the 71-year-old owner of JR’s Jewelry & Gifts, according to the Omaha Police Officers Association’s Facebook page.

According to local news station WOWT,  Dortch was identified from a surveillance photo, and the police believe more people were involved.

“It was a very senseless act, and it kind of tugs at your heart that things like this happen for no reason at all,” one customer told the station. “And he was just a man trying to make a living.”
