JCK, Forevermark, Fred Meyer Receive DEF Awards

JCK, Forevermark, and Fred Meyer Jewelers all received GOOD Awards from the Diamond Empowerment Fund at the awards ceremony in New York City on Jan. 9.

The GOOD Awards honor companies that demonstrate “outstanding leadership in the area of good corporate culture” and “promote opportunity in Africa.”

Forevermark also announced a new partnership with DEF that will see the brand introducing the Forevermark Promise Scholars Program, which supports students from DEF’s three beneficiaries:  African Leadership Academy, Botswana Top Achievers Program, and CIDA City Campus.

JCK shows vice president Yancy Weinrich, who is also a DEF board member, says that “the event drew increased attendance, and the new venue was positively received.”

The DEF, a nonprofit that supports educational initiatives in diamond-producing countries, was founded in 2006 by Russell Simmons and Dr. Benjamin Chavis.
