5 Beatles’ Songs That Reference Diamonds and Jewelry

It’s Friday and JCK is in the mood to hold your hand eight days a week while playing around in an octopus’ garden thanks to these five tunes from the Beatles that reference jewelry.

As John Lennon once said, “Will the people in the cheaper seats clap your hands. And the rest of you, if you’ll just rattle your jewelry.”

1. “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds”

Let’s get the obvious one out of the way. Lucy, bring those back, they’re expensive!

Lyrics: “Lucy in the sky with diamonds.”

2. “Can’t Buy Me Love”

Diamond rings would make most people feel fine (with the possible exception of the person buying it!).

Lyrics: “I’ll buy you a diamond ring my friend if it makes you feel all right.”

3. “I Feel Fine”

What did you say? I couldn’t hear you over the screaming teenage girls who would die if one of the Beatles bought them a diamond ring.

Lyrics: I’m so glad that she’s my little girl/she’s so glad she’s telling all the world/that her baby buys her things you know/he buys her diamond rings you know/she said so/she’s in love with me and I feel fine.”

4. “If You’ve Got Trouble”

From the sound of the following lyrics, somebody is about to have some trouble.

Lyrics: I don’t think it’s funny/when you ask for money and things/especially when you’re standing there/wearing diamonds and rings.

5. “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da”

Yup, we went there. Good luck getting this song out of your head all weekend. Happy Friday!

Lyrics: Desmond takes a trolley to the jewellers stores/buys a twenty carat golden ring (Golden ring?).
