Jewelers Weigh in on Blake Lively’s Lorraine Schwartz Ring

Since tying the knot with Ryan Reynolds on Sept. 9, Blake Lively and her engagement ring have been the talk of the Web.

According to People magazine, celebrity jeweler Lorraine Schwartz helped Reynolds design the rose gold sparkler and corresponding wedding band featuring a series of diamonds. (This news comes as no surprise, as Lively is rarely spotted on the red carpet without Schwartz’s jewelry.)

“This ring has a very clean and dainty look. The three rows of micro pavé on the shank of the ring accentuate the center stone, bringing all the attention to the 12 carat oval center,” says Marina Kurian, director of marketing at Los Angeles–based jewelry manufacturer Barkev’s. “The rose gold prongs on the ring adds a nice whimsical feel to it. Rose gold engagement rings are a very hot trend in bridal jewelry, and it is done exceptionally nicely in this particular ring.”

Adds jewelry designer Wendy Brandes: “I love an engagement ring with a difference and this is a great example of that. The oval stone is less expected than a round solitaire but still timeless. The light-pink color of the gem and the rose-gold setting are also atypical and gorgeous!”

However, not all of the industry professionals we contacted were enthralled with the design. “The rose gold and pavé diamonds are a nice touch, and something a little different, but the ring for the most part is a basic design that I feel would have been better suited for a smaller center stone,” says Jonathan Green, coproprietor of AAA Gold & Jewelry in Plant City, Fla.

The sweethearts exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony outside of Charleston, S.C. To make matters even more Hollywood-perfect—or nauseating, depending on your point of view—the Green Lantern costars wed at Boone Hall Plantation, the same Southern plantation featured as the backdrop to the film The Notebook.

Adorable husband? Check. Romantic wedding spot? Check. Gorgeous ring? Check. Blake just may be the luckiest Gossip Girl in America.
