Olympic Gymnast Aly Raisman Sports Earrings From Massachusetts Jeweler

Aly Raisman, captain of the gold-medal-winning U.S. women’s gymnastic team, sported earrings designed by Adamas Fine Jewelry in Newton, Mass., as a token of good luck during the competition.

Adamas especially created the ruby, sapphire, and diamond jewels for Raisman, whose family has been a loyal client.

“I designed the white-gold earrings in a shape of a starburst with red, white, and blue stones,” says Adamas co-owner Anto Aboyan. “Aly is representing the U.S., so it was a fitting design and color scheme.”

The Massachusetts native can be seen wearing the patriotic sparklers on the cover of Sports Illustrated‘s Olympics preview, where she posed with teammates Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross, and Jordyn Wieber.

Although Aboyan did not expect Raisman to wear the earrings while competing, the young gymnast kept them on during her entire routine. “I designed the earrings as light studs because I did not want to distract her,” Aboyan says. “However, we created the earrings as a good luck charm and had no expectation that she would be able to wear them throughout the competition.”

Aboyan and co-owner Veronica Sagherian promised each member of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team their own pair of earrings if they took home the gold medal. It looks like four more sets are going to be shipped to London in celebration of yesterday’s win!
