Bridal: K. Brunini Wedding Jewels, Cora Stacking Rings

Signature Style

In K. Brunini Jewels’ new Shapes of Strength bridal collection, Solana Beach, Calif.–based designer Katey Brunini has introduced 148 SKUs in 18k rose, white, or yellow gold starting at $400 retail. The line comprises engagement rings, wedding bands, and complementary styles with motifs found in the artists’ signature collections, including Twig, Vertebrae, DNA, Skipping Stones, Objects Organique, and SpiderWeb, all of which she has launched in the past decade. Diamonds and colored sapphires are the focal points of all the looks.

The Stack-Up Plan

A little more than a year ago, Cora International—known for big stones like the 50 ct. t.w. yellow diamond ring that Jennifer Lopez wore on American Idol this year—decided to branch out to shoppers without a J.Lo-size wallet. So the 30-plus-year-old diamond house started making petite, natural-color diamond stacking rings that range in retail price from $2,000 to $3,500, with center stones from 0.20 ct. to 0.48 ct.

“We wanted to appeal to a more everyday type of client who wanted fancy-color stones but couldn’t afford 10 caraters,” says a spokesperson. Of the dozen rings made so far, five have sold. Featuring platinum shanks and 18k gold bezels, shapes for center stones include radiants, emeralds, pears, ovals, and Asschers, most in fancy yellow diamond varieties.

Future versions will boast all rose and yellow gold mountings. There also will be an intense yellow orange pear-cut in rose gold and a fancy vivid yellow trillion-cut in yellow gold. Matching bangles may be next.
