Online jewelry retailer Blue Nile has appointed Julie Yoakum as chief merchandising officer.

Yoakum brings more than 20 years of experience to her new role. She previously served as executive vice president of merchandising at Eddie Bauer and was most recently the account service director at Hornall Anderson Design Work.

In her new role, Yoakum will lead the company’s merchandising strategy, which includes trend identification, product design, sourcing, and inventory planning and management.

We are extremely pleased to welcome Julie to Blue Nile as our head merchant,” Harvey Kanter, Blue Nile’s president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “Julie’s broad trend expertise combined with her deep experience in assortment planning and merchandising will guide and evolve our product strategy to position Blue Nile as the world’s leading online fine jeweler.”
