Illinois Jewelry Store Plans to Close

Grunwald D Fine Jewelers, located in Geneva, Ill., plans to close its doors at the end of March. For 38 years, Daniel Grunwald and his wife, Marty, have owned and operated the multifaceted jewelry store.

Featuring a variety of styles, including antique and modern jewels, Grunwald’s liquidation sale has attracted longtime customers. ‘The response has been phenomenal,” Grunwald says. “We’ve had record sales in the first week we’ve announced the closing.”

He has appreciated the customer service from his small staff over the years, as well has his loyal clientele. “Our customers are part of our family,” he says. “We have been with them for all important occasions.”

Although Grunwald plans to close in March, he has yet to determine if he will sell the remainder of his inventory to a third party.

Grunwald is looking forward to a month-long vacation, but holds on to the possibility of returning to the industry as a jewelry repairman. “I’ve always loved what I do,” he says. “It’s rare to find a job that makes you love coming into work each day.”
