AGA Announces Vegas Conference Speakers

The Accredited Gemologists Association announced speakers and the program for its June 3 conference in Las Vegas.

Jay Neogi, CEO of Serenity Technologies, and Shane McClure, director of the GIA’s West Coast Identification Services, will present “Synthetic Nano-Crystalline-Diamond and Other High Tech Coatings – A New Wave in Gemstone Treatment.” The presentation will include the latest on coating technology, information on gems currently being coated, and how to detect gems that have been coated.

Craig Lynch of Ouellet & Lynch, and Michael Evers, president of Gem Aficionado, will present a workshop on how to distinguish flux-healed and other treated ruby from the lead-glass/ruby composite material.

Ann Simpson, engineer and chair of AGA Lighting Task Force, will provide an update on findings and developments related to lighting and color-grading D-Z diamonds.
