Survey: More Small Business Owners Stressed Out

Some 52 percent of small business owners say their stress
level is higher than usual—if not at its highest level ever—according to the
second annual Small Business Survey from Brother International Corp.

“With economists undecided on whether the economy is
improving or staying the same, it’s no wonder small business owners’ stress
levels haven’t changed,” said a company statement.

The survey also found that:

– Nearly one-third (30 percent) of small business owners
said they would rather have more time on their calendars than cash in their
pockets.

– One cause of stress: machines. Three-quarters (77 percent)
of owners say they have seen productivity suffer because of technology not
working properly.

 –  Another cause of stress: the government. Some
41 percent of small business owners say it is harder to keep up with state and
federal policy changes than it is to bring in new clients or customers.
