The HRD Awards 2011, a diamond jewelry competition organized by Antwerp World Diamond Centre, received a record 1,396 entries. A jury of industry experts selected 39 winning designs,

The theme for the 2011 competition is “You and Me” with the aim being to inspire contestants with the mystery and spirituality of two elements.

A professional jury selected their favorite drawings, photos, or maquettes. The criteria were creativity, aesthetic quality, wearability, and craftsmanship. More than 873 artists from 54 different countries submitted projects.

Antwerp-based diamond companies now have the opportunity to act as sponsors for one of the selected designs. The next stage in the competition is the submission of the actual finished jewelry pieces by the end of March 2011. On May 25, an international jury will select five finalists including the winning jewelry design.

The award ceremony and inauguration show will take place in cooperation with the Royal Ballet of Flanders and the City of Antwerp in the Bourla Theatre on June 30.
